About Me
These days it seems like everybody has a website, whether they are
important or not. I am pretty self-absorbed, yet still intimidated by
the task of writing an autobiographical blurb.
I used to call myself the psychobionutrimusicianist, and I suppose the
term still applies. I am interested in everything, but pay special
attention to psychology, microbiology, immunology, nutrition, writing,
and music. I also enjoy the visual arts, in addition to many art forms
that would otherwise be considered "crafts" such as stained glass,
sewing, fabric dying, and air brushing. I've also dabbled in web design
and digital photography, and know my way around Adobe Photoshop.
Playing in the kitchen keeps me occupied when I am not sewing or
writing music. Health problems and other related drama have made it
necessary for me to follow a very restricted diet. My recipes come from
a unique ingredients list that draws from the raw food movement and
various carbohydrate restricted hunter-gatherer diets, but with a dash
of sanity.
Trust me, I'm a scientist. Or rather, trust that I AM a scientist
despite the fact that I only have one college degree and nothing
published. Illness has forced me into a "break" from my career and I
have decided to spend that time getting my health under control.
Something that began as an innocent and very personal journey has
unexpectedly grown into quite a monstrous undertaking, with the
potential to change the lives of many who suffer from the diseases of
civilization. I've been treading in some rather controversial
territory, but it has blossomed into a new career direction for me and
possibly a book. I consider myself fortunate to be a part of this
incredible movement. Visit my blog to track my thoughts and progress,
although it is not recommended for those with a low tolerance to blunt
honesty.
As a songwriter, I continue to promise friends and family another
studio LP. I am still scraping together money, musicians, and a studio
for the project and putting the final touches on the songs. In the
meantime, I may be found at various local open mic nights as well as
playing keyboard in the band Mysterytrain.
To barely pay the bills, I've crowned myself Queen of Odd Jobs. I
currently have four very part time gigs going with some local outfits
including a physician/entrepreneur, a non-profit art school, a
mom-and-pop health food store, and Penn State. I'm always on the
lookout for more opportunities.
